Break the Habit

Sometimes you seem trapped within yourself, within your habits, or within how things have happened in the past.

You never know what path you are going to end up on or how long it takes to get there. Things don't always work out they way you want or expect.

Life is tricky. Whenever you think you have it figured, something happens. I have just learned to learn.

We are all inherently stubborn. We get stuck going through the motions. Experiencing life in cycles instead fully experiencing it.

Until we admit it and break the habit.

Changing Seasons

I find myself feeling quite poetic recently. These words came to me last week. With every changing season, comes a new challenge...a new test. Many can attest to this statement. It is very easy to become complacent in life. Everyone should strive for greatness and be a little more than ordinary. Set goals and conquer new challenges.

Seasons have come and gone, and the year is almost over. It is tradition to come up with New Year's resolutions as the new year approaches. There comes a point in your life when your goals and aspirations become greater and you raise the bar. You can be better, let's be better together.

I was recently inspired by a quote by Maya Angelou. The notion is very powerful. I hope it inspires you too, as well as gives you a sense of purpose.

"Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings. The horizon leans forward, offering you space to place new steps of change." -Maya Angelou

A SHOW ABOUT NOTHING...

Been a while since I been on here. Not really sure what to write about, so I'm taking the Seinfield approach to things. A blog about nothing particular at all. Start typing and see what happens, let the chips fall where they may.
Seinfeld was an awesome show. George Costanza has to be one of the greatest televison characters of all time. Not everyone thought it was funny, but it was pretty funny to me. I have always had a thing for Elaine. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is pretty hot! She was just on the Late Show with Jay Leno the other night.
There is something about the Jay Leno show that is funny. Most of the time he is fairly corny, but I still find myself laughing. Just like the band dude who laughs no matter what. Ha! Can't remember his name. Anyhow, so long to Jay. Conan is taking his spot. He is alright, but sort of like the Jimmy Fallon show. Plus, he has the roots as his band...you can't beat that.
One of my favorite songs is The Roots featuring Eryka Badu - You Got Me. I been in the throwback music type of mood as of late. If you are too check out Soundgarden album A-Sides. Also check out A Tribe Called Quest album Midnight Marauders. "We maraude for ears." If you are like me, you like a little bit of everthing. Just ordered Grand Theft Auto albums for Vice City and San Andreas, some good 80s and 90s stuff. Check it out on http://www.amazon.com/. What don't they have?
Someone told me at work the other day "music is the equilibrium between people." Amen to that, and I will leave you with that thought. Until my next rant. My brain is in pieces, but I will have it together next time. LOL...

Rock the Vote 2008

If you have great, if you haven't get to it. Just for those of you who were waiting for an invitation, well you are invited. For the skeptics who believe that their vote doesn't matter, what's the worst that could happen, since it doesn't matter. Might as well give it a shot.

Gold Rush

Here is a Niner, Week 3, update.

SF vs DET - 31-13(W)

We started the season off a little shaky with an opening day loss. Gradually, we are improving week after week. Now we are on a two game winning streak and hoping to keep the Gold Rush moving. The defense is getting stronger, and the offensive is improving. Frank Gore will keep things rollin!

The Quilt

Gym Class Heroes is atop of my favorite band list. If you don't know about Gym Class Heroes, it's safe to crawl from behind that rock. There old stuff is dope, there new stuff is dope. So go get cultured...

Check out their previous albums, The Papercut Chronicles and As Cruel as School Children.

They just released their latest album The Quilt. Justly titled the quilt, it has all different styles woven into their music. It's hip hop, rock, and R&B. It has a little something for everybody.
My favorite track on the album is the Cookie Jar, which I'm sure will hit the radio quick and be a for sure hit. It's featuring The American Dream. There is also a track produced by Cool and Dre and features Busta Rhymes. So for those Busta fans, he is back, and has a brand new contract. So look out for him soon!
Here is the Cookie Jar video. Check it out!

Dear Summer...

Dear Summer,

I am going to miss you, cause we go together like Nike Airs and SB's. I got some Supras and new blazers with the double laces. I had some secret fun under the sun, but its a secret and tellin it would be no fun. A reality becomes a dream, and all I can do now is daydream. There is nothing like the hot weather and that summer breeze. If I could make it summer all year round I would, but when we are reunited it will feel so good. You come and go before you know it and then its back to rakin and leave blowin. The time flies by without you knowin, thinking about the summer has got me goin. It never seems like there is enough time. Now Ill just sit back and listen to Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff kick old school ryhmes and remember the summertime.

Sincerely Yours
Norm
